China could be a market that helps the banana sector

Guillermo Lasso, president of Ecuador, spoke about the possible export of bananas to China as an alternative to the current situation.

“There are some companies that are not playing fair with the producers” said Lasso and pointed out actions on export licenses.

Lasso indicated that it is unrealistic for the State to be able to buy the banana production that would be lost due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and pointed out that China could be a market that helps balance the situation of banana producers.

China could supply, as an alternative, that loss of market. “There has been a positive response and we will continue to work on this issue,” said the President.
