Clever Jimenez: They want to silence the denounces
In an interview published by the El Universo newspaper, the reelected Assemblyman of Zamora Chinchipe Clever Jimenez (Pachakutik), evaluated the 18-months prison sentence and the fine of $ 120,000, set by the Judge Lucy Blacio , with that with that judgment he said, the “government is trying to silence the voice of those who want to denounce.”
Jimenez reiterated that the complaint filed before the Prosecution, in 2011, against the Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa for the alleged commission of several crimes, including crimes against humanity during the police riot of September 30, 2010, was within his duties as legislator, but he ignored their parliamentary right of immunity and sentenced him.
Nor is it possible, in the Assembly, to create an interdisciplinary commission to investigate the facts. “They never wanted that everyone knows the truth of September 30th and this justice is in the hands of the Government, subject to the will and whim of a single person: the president and beyond or not the immunity I think that the Government is trying to silence the voice of those who are denouncing acts of corruption,” he said.
