The president of Vanguardia, Francisco Vivanco, was also there represented by his attorney Gerardo Aguirre.
The defence maintained that “they (the journalists) were not fired abruptly.” He also said that they paid the salary for the month of June and then closed the magazine.
While the employer’s lawyer, said that journalists must demonstrate “legally the closure of the magazine” that was objected by Patricio Cano, a lawyer who represents employees, confirmed that the closure of the media was public and therefore is considered as an unfair dismissal.
The hearing settled within 30 days for owners of the magazine to submit a monetary proposal for the settlement of its former employees, this should be done on the Internet so it can be seen through the website of the Ministry. For their part, journalists indicated that in case of not receiving the settlement, according to the law, they would go to court.
