Club Sport Emelec Celebrates its 83rd Years Old of Foundation

Today, one of the most iconic football teams of Ecuador, Club Sport Emelec, celebrates its 83rd years old of foundation.

It was the April 28 of 1929, when businessman and sports lover, George Lewis Capwell, then superintendent of the “Blue Team” of Ecuador, when he decided to start this team.

Emelec is the only Ecuadorian soccer team who wins the National Tournament in all the decades in which tournaments have been played: 1957, 1961, 1965, 1972, 1979, 1988, 1993, 1994, 2001 and 2002. Besides football, Emelec has several disciplines, such as basketball, swimming, baseball, bowling, boxing, volleyball, taekwondo, among others.
