Judge confirms two arrest warrants in EICA case

Yesterday, Francisco Morales Garces, president of the Provincial Court of Justice of Guayas, issued the preventive detention on charges of embezzlement against two exdirectivos EICA Company, seized by the Government and administered by the Trust AGD-CFN “No More Impunity”.

To ensure their appearances at trial, on April 16, the Court gave custody of Guayas Santiago Zambrano Mantilla, head of Z Group and Geovanny Castro Robles, general exgerente EICA.

However, the defendants argued that by not attending the hearing neither they nor their lawyers was of no effect so far, so yesterday was a new arraignment hearing in which it endorsed the measure.

The AGD-CFN Trust No More Impunity is attributed denouncing irregularities between EICA and Z Group. However, the investigation began in October 2010 when the then manager of EICA, Judge Ivan Nunez, denounced the company for fraud to Z Group, which gave no machinery to EICA hired to meet a $ 33 million the Ministry of Public Works for the purchase of road equipment.
