CNE Reveals False Signatures’ Percentages
Posted On 09 Aug 2012
Domingo Paredes, President of the National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym), publicly released the results of the verification of 10% of signatures of the different qualified political organizations.
Paredes reported that the Partido Sociedad Patriotica (PSP for its Spanish acronym) had a percentage of valid signatures of 71.8%, followed by CREO with 59.8%; Avanza with 51.5%, Ruptura with 51.2% and AP with 49.8%.
The information shocked the ruling party, starting with the President Rafael Correa, and the executive secretary of AP, Galo Mora, who blamed the “fraud” to other political organizations noting that false signatures that appear in their own party are minimal. (MZ)
