Jefferson Perez Could Enter the IOC

This Thursday August 9, the Athletes Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will include four new members, and former Ecuadorian marcher Jefferson Perez is among the candidates because of his great sporting career.
There are a total of 21 candidates for the four seats of an eight-year period each and be chosen by online voting of the nearly 10,500 athletes taking part in London 2012.
Perez, Olympic champion in Atlanta 1996 and silver winner in Beijing 2008, is among the favorites and is the best known of the 21 candidates.
The presence of Perez in the IOC would be good news for Latin America and Ecuador, since it is an influential post. The voting rsults will be announced today at 08:00 (GMT). (MZ)
