CNE Starts Signature Verification
The National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym) today starts a new process for manual verification of the signatures submitted by political organizations for their registration or re-registration, with the help of 450 people, along with 120 more people that are scanning the not yet validated firms.
According to the Code of Democracy, the agency is required to verify the authenticity of the data sheets of the political parties and movements.
In the Benalcazar Highschool Coliseum, the signature verification of registered organizations has begun. The process will last until Thursday.
Since next Friday until August 13, the inscription applications from groups which have not yet concluded the review of signatures, and those that were delivered close to the deadline, wil be analyzed manually.
It should be noted that crimes against public faith are punished with up to twelve years in prison for signature forgery. MZ
