CNE to Verify 100% of Signatures presented by all Ecuadorian Political Parties
Posted On 06 Aug 2012
An order given by the Attorney Department modified the working day at the Ecuador National Electoral Council. The order means the body must review 100% of the signatures presented by movements and political parties for re-enrollment.
The order was given by the prosecutor handling the case, Fabian Salazar. After the scandal of forged signatures, the prosecution had asked to submit a new manual review of the 10% of the entries submitted by 11 political groups that are already registered and 100% signatures verification just for those organizations whose registration is still pending.
But the new order, Salazar said, is to be extended to all firms so that the result can be “most comprehensive and suitable.” (FL)
