CNE will allow exit polls
The National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym) amended the Article 20 of the Election Observation Regulation, which forbids observers to proclaim electoral forecasts, using exit polls.
The President of the CNE, Domingo Paredes, reports that the tool can be used for quick vote counting, but only if the observers do not proclaim the triumph of political organizations or candidates.
The reform also states that screening results and forecasts can be made ten days before the elections.
If the media publish results after the deadline, they will be fined $ 5,000 to $ 20,000, and suspended in case of a second offense. (MZ)
