CNE will not support previous disclosure of results
Last week, the National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym) approved the electoral observation regulation, which created confusion and doubt.
The main reason was the paragraph 4 of Article 20. This prohibits observers to proclaime forecasts or electoral results.
This means that the work of organizations like Participacion Ciudadana, which has been doing quick count procedures since 2002, may not disclose the results in the night of February 17, the day that Ecuadorians will vote.
Being an independent organization, Participacion Ciudadana divulged unofficial figures. (MZ)
