Cuban blogger Yoani Sanchez announced, through her Twitter account, that she and her husband, opposition journalist Reynaldo Escobar, were released yesterday, after being arrested on Thursday night in Bayamo.

@yoanisanchez: “We have just been released! 30 hours arrested and many stories to tell”.

Sanchez and Escobar were arrested for 30 hours after trying to cover the trial against the Spanish politician Angel Carromero, who faces a 7 year sentence.

“During our detention I refused to eat or drink any liquid. 1st glass of water I drank was at home; felt like fire in the esophagus,”, tweeted Sanchez,37, who is a philologist and the founder of Generacion Y , an opposition blog from which she has won several international awards.
