Colombia seeks to shortly realize the firm of FTA with Japan
The President of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, said yesterday following an official meeting in Bogota with the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, that the delegations of both countries “are instructed to accelerate the negotiation,” which began in 2012 on a commercial agreement.
After two hours of meeting, Santos expressed confidence in the eventual signing of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two nations, so “diplomatic and trade relations can further strengthen.”
“We gave instructions to our delegates to accelerate this negotiation, so we can have better access to Japanese markets for Colombian products,” Santos said.
Similarly, the head of state said that Japan and Colombia, “are highly complementary economies, Japan has a lot of what we need and Colombia has what Japan needs,” he said.
