The migrants say that they are victims of persecution and xenophobia by the Ecuadorian authorities following the declaration against usury and the arrest of 35 people last week, including several Colombians.
“We find it difficult to walk on the streets,” said an complainant, who alleged that just because the mere fact of being Colombians they retain, investigate and marginalize us.
Several citizens from the north country gathered with posters outside the maximum security prison in Guayaquil, demanding better human treatment, and asking for the release of some detainees, accused of usurers by the fact of riding with a parter on a motorcycle or working as street traders.
