Colombian Guerrilla Abuses Illegal Mining in Esmeraldas

Two indigenous were detained in a canoe while coursing through the river Mataje, in Esmeraldas, Ecuador. According to the report from the marina, they where intercepted by a patrol and during the revision they found the cocaine plants.
The men, who are still unidentified, were detained in San Lorenzo, a bordering village to Colombia. According to the reports of military intelligence, the Colombian guerrilla spread its influence in the Esmeraldas territory.
The reports pointed out that several drug networks operate in that area smuggling the drugs through the sea, using miners like the suspects who are already under custody. AV
