Colombian prosecutors reject Uribe’s recusal
The Prosecutor General, Eduardo Montealegre, solved the recusal brought against him and Jorge Perdomo (deputy prosecutor) on Tuesday by former President Álvaro Uribe Vélez, as part of the investigation being conducted into the alleged entry of illegal money (2 million dollars) to the first campaign of President Juan Manuel Santos.
The recusal of Uribe was considered inappropriate because he is being summoned by the Attorney as a witness and not as processed.
In the document, Uribe requested that the public Prosecutor and the Vice Prosecutor stay away from the investigations being carried out by the complaint before the media about the money entry to Santos government.
Thus, the president will have to be submitted to the Attorney for the third time this Thursday and will have to render sworn statement on his complaint regarding the entry of such money to the Government of Santos.
