Colombians vacationing in Ecuadorian beaches
December is the busiest month for the Ecuadorian Migration Offices, located in the Rumichaca bridge, which connects our country with Colombia. From the first days, hundreds of Colombian tourists perform procedures, such as the declaration of their departure and the entry to our country to spend vacation.
They took advantage of one of the longest holidays of Colombia, from December 15 to January 15. “This is an average of 6000 Colombians visitors who enter every day,” said Jose Naranjo, coordinator of the Ministry of Tourism, of the zone 1 (Carchi, Esmeraldas, Imbabura and Sucumbíos).
“The majority goes to the beaches of Esmeraldas and Manabi. While others prefer to visit Imbabura and the Ecuadorian capital.” This makes a total of 250,000 Colombian tourists who visit each year Ecuador, according to Naranjo.
However, this year there are fears that there may be a reduction in the number of tourists because the products and services have become more expensive for Colombians, because of the constant devaluation of their currency in relation to the dollar.
