Comex asked for the annulment of the CAN pronouncement on resolution 116
The President of the Committee of Foreign Trade, Francisco Rivadeneira, would present tomorrow before the Andean Court of Justice, the request for annulment of the resolution of the Andean Community of Nations (CAN for its Spanish acronym) on Resolution 116 of the Comex, said Ramiro Gonzalez, Minister of Industries and Productivity.
“The Comex President already has the answer, and tomorrow he will deliver it, and in which we affirm what we have said we do not agree with the decision of the CAN, because quality standards are not trade restrictive, they are a sovereign right of countries which require good quality products,” Gonzalez said.
The CAN said that Resolution 116 issued by the Comex, would restrict trade, since according to the entity, it is an obstacle to international trade operations. Therefore, the CAN granted fifteen days to Ecuador for lifting the measure.
