Concertacion Movement challenges against registration of the trademark 30-S

Yesterday, December 15, Juan Carlos Solines spokesman of political movement ” Concertación”, presented to the Ecuadorian Institute of Intellectual Property (IEPI for its Spanish acronym), a challenge to stop the Ecuadorian Government that intends to trademark the police riot date held in Ecuador (30S and 30-S).

This first action was not put forward the idea proposed by Vinicio Alvarado, secretary of the Administration to trademark “30S”, “30-S” and “Forbidden to forget” as exclusive words of the Presidency.

“They asked for the registration of trademarks 30S and 30-S to prevent possible misuse and distortion for political or other opinion, since the September 30 incident occurred a national and international connotation (…),” said Alvarado.
