Conelec Approved the New Electric Rates

The board of the National Electric Council (Conelec) approved last night, at 23h00, the rate increase to 78 000 residential customers who consume over 500 kilowatt hours per month or those who pay more than $ 57. So far, however, the details of the new measure have not been released.

The new rates will be taken into account from July 1, but the effects will be reflected in the electric bill of August. The rise in the 500 kw / h  returns will be gradual from 11.85 to 67.12 cents.

For the coastal region it was not taken into account that the consumption, because of the climate, is always greater. According to the authorities, using a single air conditioner in a middle class family should not exceed 500 kW / h per month.
