Controversy over Febres-Cordero Monument in Guayaquil

The Second Civil Chamber of Guayas commands the removal of the provisional obelisk in honor of Febres-Cordero.
The Municipality of Guayaquil sticks to the right of resistance against the sentence from the Superior Court of Guayaquil, which prevents the placement of the bust in honor of the late former president, Leon Febres-Cordero, in El Fortin, near the Malecon Simon Bolivar.
The Cantonal Council, akin to mayor Jaime Nebot, is going to issue a resolution at its usual weekly session.
Nebot declined to comment yesterday on the decision of the Second Civil Chamber of Guayas, which also commands the removal of the provisional obelisk in honor of Febres-Cordero.
The statement responds to the appeal that the town council made against the protective action brought by the Diabluma group, allied to the Government, to prevent the monument to be placed in the chosen location. (MZ)
