Nathalie Cely, current Minister of Coordination of Production, Employment and Competitiveness of Ecuador, is now a candidate for the U.S. Embassy, President Rafael Correa informed in his weekly broadcast.
“Dear friends, President #Correa announced today my candidacy for the U.S. Embassy. I’m getting a new challenge now and I’m hoping to spend more time with my family,” Cely wrote in her Twitter account.
Correa also announced that Assemblywoman of Guayas, Aminta Buenaño, is running for the Embassy of Spain as well.
Cely must wait for the U.S. acceptance to officially take possession as Ambassador. Foreign Affairs Minister Ricardo Patino said that diplomatic relations between the United States and Ecuador will resume “soon”, “This Christmas we will have good news regarding the U.S.,” he said.
