Correa defends affiliation for housewives

President Rafael Correa defended yesterday the affiliate program to Social Security benefits for housewives. The President explained that they will contribute with $2 monthlyand the state with more than $9 so they canhave aretirement pensionof more than$ 76, plusa disability pension and other for death of heirs.
“I wish the pension could be more, but we are talking about the lower end of extreme poverty (…). It is reasonable for it to be a pension of just over $ 76,” Correa said. He added that a study conducted by the National Institute of Statistics determined that the work of housewives correspond to 15% of the national GDP.
