Correa: “If we Have to Go Through a Crossed Death, we Will Do It”
President Rafael Correa raised the possibility of a “crossed death” if the National Assembly continues to obstruct the appointment of the government representative to the Judiciary.
Death Cross is a constitutional mechanism that gives authority to the President to dissolve the National Assembly which automatically puts the office available to the people of Ecuador and the National Electoral Council must call an election.
“We will do a crossed death, my fellows, I am not going to be painted on the wall here,” he said.
Correa insisted that the government’s opponents “have blocked more than two months the referndum official results, only to hurt the government. Since the results are now boycotted the election of a representative of the Judicial Council.”
“What are you looking for? ¿You want to hurt the government? You must understand that you are hurting the country,” said the president on his Saturdays media broadcast.
