Correa recognized “significant setback” after losing municipality of Quito
President Rafael Correa stressed having achieved “wonderful results” in Pichincha and Guayas winning prefectures, but also recognized a setback by losing the Mayorship of Quito.
These statements were made after knowing the first results of the poll surveys at 17:15.
“The popular support is clear. However, we had a significant setback in the capital, which should be reviewed”, said Correa. He also added: “We have to say, nothing is established, we have to win every day, but we will continue building the new country”.
Correa again recognized the reverse in Quito and Cuenca in the evening hours at another press conference.
He noted that among the errors of the campaign was the sectarianism of his own movement and questioned why alliances were not made with like-minded political parties.
