Correa’s reelection “would not be very appropriate” according to Alvarado
During an interview with the news agency EFE, Vinicio Alvarado, Minister of Tourism, spoke about the possibility that President Rafael Correa is postulated for reelection in 2017.
Alvarado said that he personally would prefer to let some time pass in order for the president to stand for a third term.
“The indefinite reelection may not be a very suitable option this time (…), more healthful could be the possibility that (Rafael) Correa could return after a period.”
The Minister considers it would be “a more viable and more adequate political alternative” and it would allow “citizens to compare”, while emphasizing, “who rules the destinies is the own citizenry in democracy.”
Having emphasized that Ecuador lives “a process of profound transformation” with the “leadership” of Correa, Alvarado said that “it is very important” to finish it because it is “giving good results” but “it is also important to listen to the Ecuadorian people.”
