Court denies the protection action of Fausto Camacho in CNE contest
The designation of the two new members of the National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym) will be held next week, once the ordinary justice dismissed the last protection action raised against the Citizen Selection Commission, in charge of conducting the merit and opposition contest.
This December 9, Gustavo Salazar, Magistrate of the 24 Civil Court of Pichincha, dismissed the protection action brought by the aspirant Fausto Camacho, former member of the CNE, by considering it inappropriate.
Camacho complained that in the review of the merits, the commission did “used and misused the instructive” whenqualifying them, affecting his right to equal treatment, because the publication of two books, electoral initiatives in electoral matters and his work with civil society organizations, were not taken into account.
