Criminal wanted in Peru was captured in Salinas

Gerald Americo Oropeza Lopez was Peru’s most wanted criminal, he was captured last Saturday by the National Police in Salinas.
The Peruvian citizen was investigated for alleged drug trafficking and money laundering, so he had an Interpol Red Notice.
“This citizen was arrested while walking alone on the beach in Salinas (Santa Elena), we know he came to Ecuador in April,” said yesterday the deputy interior minister, Diego Fuentes, at the Binational Center for Border Care in Huaquillas, to formalize the delivery and deportation of Oropeza.
After a meeting with Peruvian officials, around noon the delivery of Oropeza was made to the authorities of that country, who immediately took him to the airport of Tumbes and then to Lima, where he will be brought before the courts.
