Customs increase control of smuggling at borders

Customs control until July of this year has had positive results, apprehensions have increased by 40% compared to the same period last year, according to the National Customs Service of Ecuador.
In those seven months the price of the retained items total 22.17 million dollars, while in 2014 it was 15.85 million dollars.
Apprehensions are mainly textiles, cell phones, shoes, spirits and drugs. The control institution reminds travelers thy can not bring liquor as part of the baggage in land borders. Those wishing to pass the alcoholic beverages must pay the relevant tax.
