Only one industry operates in Tulcán
“With a good management, at least the only industry of Tulcán will not have red balances.” This was told to Daily Expreso by Pablo Cuevas Rodriguez, manager of Lacteos Carchi, given the economic situation in the country.
He explained that the industry employs about 35 people and plans to hire another 15 once the expansion of the company building is completed. He said that the dairy sector, indirectly, employs some 200 families that sell their milk.
Although Colombians have stopped buying Ecuadorian milk, the industry believes in the province and therefore is revitalizing the business. This, starting from an alliance with the Quito pasteurizer, which which is the largest shareholder of Lacteos Carchi since 2014.
In the province, one of the main products are cheeses and particularly those made by this industry; besides the milk caramel, the cream of milk, “because the milk of Carchi is rich in fat and protein,” he added.
