Defense of Yachay in the National Assembly
The justification for the hiring of the headhunter firm Perrett Laver and the legality so that members of the Managing Commission reside abroad were among the points raised yesterday by the interim rector of Yachay Tech, Jose Andrade, in his appearance before the Education Commission of the Assembly.
Andrade explained that it is legal for members of the Managing Commission to live abroad. He is based in Section 12 of the Organic Law on Public Service (LOSEP), regarding the exercise of teaching, and Section 138 of the Organic Law on Higher Education (LOES), which promotes national and international mobility of professors, researchers, students, professionals with a view to integration.
Regarding the Perrett Laver contract for $ 1.4 million to discover eleven world talents, Andrade said that this is a mechanism also used by other universities and this allowed to repatriate the Ecuadorian Paola Ayala, who holds a PhD in Physics and is responsible for the Science, Physics and Engineering departments in Yachay.
