Delgado won’t return, he’ll ask for asylum
Even when he left, after his resignation from the high duties assigned, it was said he had a return ticket for this January 6, Juan Carlos Carmigniani, Pedro Delgado’s attorney, revealed that his client, for now, won’t return, but rather he will initiate the process to obtain asylum in Miami, city from the U.S. where he has lived along with his family for 10 years.

On declarations to the media, Carmigniani explains that his client, cousin of President Rafael Correa and President of the Central Bank of Ecuador and the Trust No More Impunity on his government, cannot return to the country in the middle of the election campaign that is being held at the moment, since he estimates that he would become victim of “a political lynching.”
Asked about the possibility of obtaining asylum in the United States, the defender explained that other alternatives will be studied, he argues that the “range is wide” and explains that “it is very inconvenient to have his family moved.“
