Posted On 24 Nov 2011
Egyptian demonstrators want to postpone the elections scheduled for November 28, 2011; and a council of elders to replace the military rulers who last Wednesday deployed security forces to quell the protests.
Now the field hospitals set up around the square were overrun with casualties after riot police locked in tens of thousands of people inside Tahrir Square. Inhaling the gas thrown by the officers produced most of the injuries, a doctor also perished due to the toxic fumes.
The dissatisfaction grew at a slow pace when it was offered to hold a referendum on the transition of power to civilian rule. The protests in Tahrir Square began to escalate violently since November 19, 2011. (AV)
