Dr. Sabett Chamoun, appointed Deputy Comptroller by Comptroller Carlos Pólit, has taken over the National Audit Office early this afternoon, after a struggle with Pablo Celi de la Torre, who was in charge.
According to a document, today, June 7, 2017, at the Consular Office of Ecuador in Miami, where the Comptroller General Carlos Pólit currently is, he made a sworn statement on May 25, the same day personnel action No. 913 was issued, ordering the dismissal of Deputy Comptroller Dr. Pablo Celi de la Torre for June 2, the same day Chamoun should be appointed as the new person in the charge, until the “vacations” of Pólit last.
Therefore, according to explanations of Chamoun, Pablo Celi “was dismissed from office on Friday by the highest authority of the National Audit Office. That day Dr. Celi was given the dismissal order.”
In addition, she indicated that Celi “was opposed to receiving order showing an unsuitable attitude.” (I).
