Diana Atamaint: “If there is affinity to political parties, balance is guaranteed
Ecuadornews:
What issues do you think should be prioritized in the body?
I will raise three issues before the plenary: first, ignore the call for the election of the Citizen Participation Council, which was approved by the previous National Electoral Council, with only 2 votes out of 5. That is illegal and we will review the dates and the regulations to guarantee transparency.
Second, the restitution to the electoral register of the Ruptura de los 25 movement, review the signatures presented by the Yasunidos collective and verify if there were the necessary rubrics to call a referendum.
And third, we will ask the Comptroller to make an analysis of the contracts of the last seven years.
Wil it be done in time?
We will have to frame ourselves in the law and act within those parameters. If other processes have to be carried out, this must be analyzed technically; at this moment you cannot say that, but we will have the route to advance as far as we can.
Surely it will be necessary to carry out other processes that will also have to be analyzed technically.
Doesn’t the fact that there are members related to political parties doesn’t reduce this National Electoral Council independence?
I believe that the work will not be done as before under the interests of a single party. If there are affinities to different movements, it is a way of demonstrating that plurality, diversity in representation guarantees balance to act with transparency. (I)
