Discomfort in the EU by negotiations of Russia with South American countries
Discomfort has been generated in the European Union (EU) by the speed with which several South American governments have offered themselves as trade partners of Russia, following the closure of the country to food imports from Europe and the United States.
The European Commission will communicate the representatives of “a group of countries” in the Americas its disagreement with the fast reaction and will urge to “reconsider” their contracts with an “unreliable” partner like Moscow, according to EU sources.
With this move, the EU seeks to give a warning for a movement it considers unfair, although the `Twenty eight´ countries do not intend to mar their good diplomatic and trade relations with countries like Brazil or Argentina.
“We can understand that producers and exporters, private companies definitely seek new opportunities. What we do not share is that there are governments behind” they stressed.
