Doctors will have an audience with President Correa

This morning the advisor of the Head of State, Mario de la Torre, received doctors who remained in vigil last night at the Plaza de San Francisco church, and announced them the possibility of a direct dialogue with Rafael Correa.

Juan Barriga, medical spokesman, said that if they meet with the president, they will give to him a written proposal. Further, he clarified that they didn’t presented their requirements to the consultant “because the dialogue will be with the president and the Minister of Health.”

Around 500 doctors require not be judged as criminals and announced that the conditional resignations will continue until the remove of the term “malpractice” from the Comprehensive Organic Penal Code .

On the other hand, Carina Vance, Health Minister explained that the articles will be asked to incorpórate to the articles of manslaughter the “not allowed risk” due to the attentions in hospitals and contemplate the creation of a Control Agency under the Ministry to verify the quality medical establishments and professional protocols.
