Documentary tells the story of the Restrepo brothers

Posted On 14 Oct 2011

The youngest sister of the Restrepo Arismendi family, Maria Fernanda, directed a documentary which tells the story of how on January 8, 1988, when she was 10 years old, her brothers Santiago, 17, and Andres, 14, disappeared without a trace.

The documentary, entitled “Con mi corazón en Yambo” (‘With my heart in Yambo’), shows the family before they learned that the two brothers were kidnapped, tortured, killed and disappeared by the hand of the Ecuadorian police for no reason. Afterwards their bodies were dumped in the Yambo lagoon (2 hours distance from Quito).
