Dog-walk for the LOBA law
Sunday morning August 2nd a march was held to call for the immediate adoption of the Law on Animal Welfare (LOBA for its Spanish acronym), and to commemorate the international day of the stray dog.
Organized by the Animal Rescue Foundation, the march started on the outside of Alban Borja Mall at 10:30 and went through the Victor Emilio Estrada Avenue until the Urdesa Park.
The second vice president of the National Assembly, Marcela Aguinaga, joined the march. “Free from fear, hunger and pain. Animals are part of the family, today we march for their protection,” she said. Aguinaga led the march holding a sign with the phrase ‘Loba lives, the struggle continues.
Viviana Vasconez, director of Animal Rescue, was one of the promoters. She explains that through this foundation they have managed to rescue about 500 animals from the streets. Some are still looking for a home and others, unfortunately, did not survive because of their critical state due to abuse and other diseases.
