“Don’t vote blank nor null, vote for Don Burro” is the motto that more than 17,000 followers on Twitter are writing, in support of the candidacy of Don Burro (Mr. Donkey) to the National Assembly.
Don Burro’s registration, as a sign of protest against the quality of assembly postulates competing for a seat, has attracted the attention of Ecuadorians an served as a match in the powder keg, which exploded with the claims of all outraged youngsters in the country due to such shameless event.
The youth have had enough of populism in elections and made their anger evident over the appointments of actors, actresses, singers, soccer players and TV presenters, who claim that in order to serve the country, a college degree is not needed, when many of them have not even completed high school.
Statements of such low intelligence and strength, only serve as evidence of how low politics has fallen in the country.
Youth is not ignorant and have high expectations. It is a fact that is reflected every day, like encouraging an act as creative as the registration of a donkey to the assembly as a sign of indignation.
Don Burro who, for young Ecuadorians, is on an even intellectual level with those characters, who intend to participate in a job of such national representation, has a resume that promises real validity in the Assembly ranks at the time of legislation.
Politicians as Gilmar Gutierrez from the Partido Sociedad Patriotica (PSP), which has several postulated candidates who are being rejected by ecuadorian youth, argues that “the Lord’s vineyard is full of everything“, and youth, free of cynicism, strongly responds “Stick to your business, politics is not a game and we have had it with the insults on the people of Ecuador.” (MZ)
