Dotcom on Bail Until August

Posted On 29 Feb 2012

Kim Dotcom, founder of illegal downloads Megaupload; will remain on bail until next August, a New Zealand court ruled today.

Dotcom, whose real name is Kim Schmitz, will stay at his mansion in New Zealand, until the extradition trial to go to the United States is held.

Washington is demanding the extradition of the founder of Megaupload, which accuse him of having turned his platform, now closed, in one of the biggest web sites for exchanging illegal copies of movies and music, causing damages of $ 500 million to copyright owners.

Dotcom will not have any accesses to Internet until the conclusion of the hearing to determine his possible extradition. He will only leave his house with permission from the authorities.
