Dr. Vicente Taiano, PRIAN Assemblymen, proposes the use of scopolamine as an aggravated theft
Dr. Taiano asks that this felony be repressed with imprisonment from 12 to 16 years.
The parliament proposes a reform of the article 552 of the Legal Code, which states, “If the theft involves drugs, psychotropic substances or alkaloids to lead the victim into a state of unconsciousness and helplessness or to force it to do acts that would not normally do If the person were conscious, for this crime would imprison the criminal from 12 to 16 years. Criminals turn to the use of scopolamine or “burundanga” a drug that provokes the loss of consciousness in the victim, making people do anything that the criminal orders to do. The victim finds himself in a state of somnambulism and loss of consciousness helpping criminals not only to robb their belongings, but also help them to take their victims to their home or office in order to steal more belongings there, or they can force them to use their ATM password or use its credit cards.
The scopolamine is a tropane alkaloid that acts as suppressor of the nerve endings and the brain, it causes temporal amnesia, drowsiness, this can be associated with the somnambulism, since the drugged person does not remember what he/she did under the psychotropic effects.
