Drugs that would cost $ 15.4 million were seized in Galapagos
Thirty packages, containing 700 kilos of presumed cocaine hydrochloride were seized at sea by the Coast Guard Command of the Navy, that executed the operation Tridente de Mar in conjunction with the police.
Armando Elizalde Icaza, coastguard commander of the Navy, reported yesterday that last Friday, at 15:00, coastguards with the help of an aero maritime exploration detected a speedboat, with three people on board 250 nautical miles northwest of the Galapagos Islands.
Elizalde said that the occupants of the boat when realizing the presence of coastguards decided to flee, so the persecution lasted several hours.
He added that at 18:30 the fugitives started throwing fuel tanks and several packages to the sea, the same that were found intertwined with a sonobuoy and two satellite devices tied to two sticks.
