During his stay in Lima, President Guillermo Lasso met with his counterparts from Peru and Chile
The Ecuadorian president, Guillermo Lasso, held meetings with his counterparts from Peru, Pedro Castillo; and from Chile, Sebastián Piñera , on the afternoon and evening of July 27, 2021. The Lima Convention Center hosted the first dialogue between Lasso and the new Peruvian president.
“It is an honor for me to be here and express our support and endorsement. We hope you a lot of success because it will be that of all Peruvians. You will always have me at a distance, a phone call away, when you consider discussing any topic of mutual interest”.
The Ecuadorian Head of State called Castillo to work together, since the two countries are members of the Andean Community (CAN), along with Colombia and Bolivia. The elected president of Peru, on the other hand, said that there are commitments on the part of both countries to work on plans that promote development.
“I am infinitely grateful for the presence of the President of Ecuador. Today we have challenges and challenges that must be assumed by opening the borders, “said Castillo.
The meeting also addressed issues such as recovery from the pandemic, fishing, contamination of the Tumbes River and the desire to establish immediate practices, such as binational cabinets. Castillo showed his interest in acquiring the experience of Ecuador in the cultivation of flowers.
Later, Lasso met with the president of Chile, Sebastián Piñera . According to the Secretariat General of Communication of the Presidency, at the meeting they discussed mechanisms of regional integration, economic recovery strategies to address the pandemic and plan of vaccination.
“We are very happy to be with President Lasso, with whom we are going to join forces so that our peoples have the future they deserve,” said Piñera.
Lasso also participated in commemorative events for the Bicentennial of the Independence of Peru.
