Duzac case hearing held back for a document
The lack of a document attesting to the position held by Pedro Delgado, former president of the Management Unit Public Law (Ugedep) and former director of AGD-CFN Trust No More Impunity, was the cause for the filing of charges hearing in the Duzac case was suspended.
The hearing of yesterday, began promptly at 09:30, in the presence of several defence attorneys of Cofiec bank officials as the attorney general, Galo Chiriboga, was preparing to perform the indictment against several investigated, instruction which would open the prosecution, the judge of the Only Criminal Chamber of the National Court, Paul Iniguez, asked to justify the jurisdiction of the National Court, and the appointment of the former official, one of those being investigated, but the prosecution did not have that document.
Lawyers for the defendants asked to set another date for the hearing and the judge agreed.
About this incongruity, Chiriboga explained that other documents delivered did accredit such office, as proceedings in which Delgado signed as the legal representative of the Trust. However, he said that in order to not risk the case “for something so trivial” and then could claim by the defence a nullity, then seek such appointment to be appended to the file.
Chiriboga said that there are intentions on the behalf of the inquired, to delay the process.
