Duzac was not aware of the guarantee change

Thanks to an investigation published by the magazine Vanguardia, on last Monday, about the Argentinean businessman Gaston Duzac in which he said that he was not present in return for guarantees because he was not in the country, and stated that someone must have done it for him. He said he was not aware of the change of guarantees.

The Prosecution has already four versions regarding the Duzac case, and yesterday Gino Caicedo Urresta, the current president of Bank Cofiec, arrived around 08h30 to the Attorney General, to give his version, free and voluntary, within the preliminary investigation conducted by the Duzac case (due to the delivery of a credit of $ 800 000, that apparently has irregularities).

When Caicedo became president of the Bank, he became aware of the process when he replaced Antonio Bunay. But the loan was not approved during his leadership, but the issue regarding the changed guarantees is still pending, this occurred in June 2012, a timen when Agricultural Mercedes, one of the companies seized by the state, goods were handed over, which was used as collateral in order to give the loan to Duzac.

Following comments of Duzac, an investigation would be carried out to find those responsible for the change made for the guarantees. So far the testimonies of key officials, Zoila Montalvo, the former credit official and the former executive president, Antonio Bunay, who have not been presented their versions of the case.
