Ecuador and Peru Foreign Ministers prepare binational meeting in Arenillas
Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño and Gonzalo Gutierrez from Peru, will meet in the Ecuadorian Peruvian Neighborhood Commission to define the issues to be addressed at the Presidential meeting and VIII Binational Cabinet the rulers of those nations will chair.
By next October 28th is scheduled they meet in Arenillas, the Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa and his Peruvian counterpart Ollanta Humala, for the Presidential Binational Encounter 2014. According to the Foreign Ministry, diplomats will evaluate the management of the technical and border committees to strengthen the integration of the two countries. They will also strengthen joint projects and initiatives to develop the common border.
Reviewing the progress of demining activities on the border of Ecuador and Peru, discussing interconnection road axes, socializing potential agreements in education (joint infrastructure projects and opportunities for cooperation), are some of the topics that will be addressed in the presidential meeting. Furthermore, in that Presidential Encounter and VIII Binational Cabinet of Ministers, the signature of the peace agreement between the two nations, held on October 26, 1998, in Brasilia will also be remembered.
