Ecuador and Russia agree to meet the bilateral Business Council

Ecuador and Russia agreed to deepen bilateral relations with the completion, in the second half of 2018, of the business council of both countries, the Foreign Ministry said today in a statement.
He noted that the agreement is part of the results of the V Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Ecuadorian-Russian Economic and Commercial Cooperation, which concluded today.
Foreign Minister María Fernanda Espinosa, visiting Russia, together with the co-president of the Russian Party, Serguei Dankvert, signed the closing act of the V meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Ecuadorian-Russian Economic and Commercial Cooperation, which included the commitment to exchange information to expand cooperation and advance in the recognition of higher education degrees.
Both delegations will work to find a solution to the differences in the projects: Hydroelectric Power Plant “Toachi Pilatón” and “Termogas Machala”, indicated the official note.
“The Russian Government committed, at the request of the Ecuadorian delegation, to take steps to resolve the pending payment to Ecuadorian companies, exporters of bananas,” he noted in the official note without offering more data.
The Ecuadorian delegation headed by the foreign minister was also integrated by representatives of the Hydrocarbons Secretariat and representative of the Minister of Electricity, Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment, Agrocalidad, Proecuador and representatives of the National Secretariat of Science and Technology, who participated in the event by videoconference.
According to the Foreign Ministry, Ecuador has become Russia’s third largest trading partner in Latin America and the Caribbean. (I)
