Ecuador at Miami Fashion Week: Mónica Campaña – María del Mar Proaño, Paulina Anda – Pedro Cueva
MONICA CAMPAÑA
1. Is this your first time participating in the Miami Fashion Week?
This is the first time I participate and I have high expectations because my goal is to have Monica Campaña brand to be recognized internationally.
2. Have you taken your creations to other national or international events?
In Ecuador, Guayaquil, I participated in Ecuador Fashion Week and Book Designer.
In the town of Cuenca I had the opportunity to participate in a showroom organized exclusively for me by BG Magazine to present my “Studio 54” collection which I launched in April 2011.
3. What brand did you present at the Miami Beach International Fashion Week?
My brand Monica Campaña has always been known for being elegant, classic, feminine and is exactly what you will look in the clothes that make my collection.
This collection was designed and produced exclusively for the Miami Fashion Week. There are casual clothes like blouses, skirts, shorts, jackets, tailor cutting pants, cocktail dresses and evening gowns.
The color palette includes melon, blue, green, beige, black and yellow, all light colors. The materials are silk, chiffon, linen.
4. What was the inspiration for your creations?
Unlike my other collections, which have always been worked under a concept, this is different. I have nothing more than the concept that I have of a successful, professional, independent and feminine woman. It includes a collection of all kinds of items that this type of woman needs. The collection is “MC Lady.” I chose the name because a lady is an elegant woman that would wear my clothes and my initials are MC. This is my ideal look for all women.
MARÍA DEL MAR PROAÑO
Maria del Mar Proaño will take her creations to the international scene of Miami Beach Fashion Week. This Ecuadorian designer shared some details about her exposure tonight.
1. It is this your first time participating in the Miami Fashion Week?
I’ve been designing clothes three and half years. This is my first time at Miami Fashion Week.
2. Have you taken your creations to other national or international events?
I was at another event in Miami last year. This is the second time I get with my creations to this city.
3. What types of designs of your own creation will be seen at this Fashion Week?
Everything is a complete gateway and they are Prêt-à-porter (French term referring to garments ready to wear every day).
4. What was the inspiration for your creations?
The bold, strong and conservative woman at the same time; however, in my designs you will not see prominent, but restraint low necks.
PAULINA ANDA
Linen and Swarovski crystals were the main elements of Paulina Anda’s creation that premiered at the Miami Fashion Week.
Her collection, called “Urban Romance” is inspired “by the freshness and charm of the spring.”
The predominant colors were dusty pinks, burnt oranges and greens. The basic black and white were also present in this creation.
PEDRO CUEVA
Pedro Cueva, from Cuenca, announced its collection Peter Cave on the international runway Miami. Bright colors with faint ones were combined in each of his designs.
Peter Cave presented a redesign of the men’s formal suit with a classic air of the 70’s disco: well notched sacks, flares English and Italian cut close to the body with square front pockets.
