Ecuador closes the doors to livestock products from Colombia
Ecuadornews:
Due to the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease detected in Colombia on June 24, livestock products from that country will be prohibited from entering Ecuador. The temporary trade restriction was adopted by the Ecuadorian authorities on June 26 of this year and has been communicated to the World Trade Organization (WTO), following the transparency guidelines established in the Agreement on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures of the International organization.
The objective is to avoid the passage of animals or their derivatives, from Colombia, that may be infected with the virus and to maintain Ecuador as a country free from this disease. (I)
